Regardless of what has originally led to the collapse of the Somali state (nefarious tribalism, bad governance, senseless civil war, foreign interference etc) and its continuing structural failure, there is no excuse whatsoever for the current large scale humanitarian emergency crisis, unashamedly unfolding before our eyes, to take place. Although, the personal responsibility of this bitter reality lies primarily in…

It’s not on the front pages of the Western press, and it’s not leading the hour for the main Arab satellite networks like Al Jazeera and Al Arabiya, but the Syrian uprising continues apace, while the Assad regime’s countermeasures are becoming increasingly brutal.

The speedy intervention by America, France and Britain in Libya in the name of UN Resolution in favour of ‘No Fly” Zone is nothing but an old imperialist goal. All these three nations are old imperialist powers who have colonized half the world during 19th and first half of 20th century, France and Britain directly and America indirectly. The cover of course was to ‘save ‘civilian lives though they themselves, along…

The biggest potential losers in the still-roiling revolutions of the Middle East and North Africa are the people themselves. Many are democrats at high risk of being overwhelmed over time by new dictators and organized religious…
